Snow route parking ban exemptions available online

As of February 12, 2024, the City of Wrenford is making it easier for residents with mobility challenges to keep their vehicles off snow-cleared routes during the overnight winter parking ban. The Snow Route Parking Ban Exemption program is now fully available through the City's online application portal.

The overnight ban runs from December 1 to March 31, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., on designated snow routes. Under the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097, vehicles parked on these streets must be moved before 6:00 a.m. Residents who can prove a verified mobility condition may apply for an exemption to park their vehicle on these streets during clearing operations. The application is completely free and can be submitted digitally or picked up in person at the Service Wrenford counter in City Hall.

The City typically reviews each application within a few weeks. "Ensuring that people with mobility challenges can navigate the city safely and independently during heavy snowfall is a priority for our Roads and Winter Maintenance team," says Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "Moving the application online means residents can submit their paperwork from home and avoid visiting City Hall during the busiest time of the year."

Residents can visit the apply for a snow route parking ban exemption page to start their application. If you have questions about the process or need a paper form, contact the Roads & Winter Maintenance team at [email protected].

The parking ban helps keep main roads clear for snow plows and salt trucks, ensuring safer travel for everyone. Learn more about snow route parking bans and how the City manages winter road clearing on the Roads & Winter Maintenance section of the website.
