Northgate Aquatic Centre winter closure extended to February 5

The City of Wrenford is extending the winter closure of the Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard until Monday, February 5. The facility, which houses a 50-metre pool, dive tank and waterslide, has been closed for routine winter maintenance. We now expect the centre to reopen to the public on Monday, February 5, at 6:00 a.m.

We made this decision after discovering unexpected wear on the pool filtration system during our scheduled checks. To ensure the water stays clean and safe for everyone, we need a few extra days to replace the filters and run a full system test. The fitness studio and gymnasium areas at the Northgate Aquatic Centre will reopen at the same time as the pools.

Residents who planned to visit the centre this week should head to a different location. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre on Benchlands Drive is open as usual, with its 25-metre lap pool and leisure pool. You can also check the public skating schedule if you are looking for ice time, or visit the holiday hours page for any other facility changes.

"We know last-minute changes to recreation schedules can be frustrating," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Our team is working hard to get the Northgate Aquatic Centre back up and running safely. We appreciate your patience as we finish these essential repairs."

If you have a booked rental or a scheduled lesson at the Northgate Aquatic Centre before February 5, please check the booking amendment or cancellation page for details on rescheduling or refunds. Staff at the front desk will also be happy to help you find a new time slot once the centre reopens.
