Northgate Aquatic Centre opens for summer season May 24

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the Northgate Aquatic Centre reopens for the 2024 season on May 24. Located at 910 Northgate Boulevard, the facility welcomes residents back to its 50-metre lap pool, dive tank, and waterslide.

With the doors opening, you can plan your summer visits right away. Public swim sessions run daily, and we have added extra lanes during weekday afternoons to help you get your length in. If you have been waiting for a swim lesson or an aqua fitness class, registration opens on the first Monday of March for spring and summer programs. You can sign up online or visit the front desk at the Downtown Transit Terminal for in-person help.

"We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to the Northgate Aquatic Centre," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Our team has worked hard over the winter to check all the water systems and equipment. We want this facility to remain a safe, welcoming place for families, lap swimmers, and everyone who enjoys the water."

While the main centre is open, remember that the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and the Wildrye Splash Pad will open later in June, once the weather warms up. The splash pad at Riverside Flats Park is also scheduled to open in late June.

Here is what you need to know before you head out:

  • Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; weekends 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Drop-in fees: Check the facility schedule for the latest drop-in rates and age restrictions for the dive tank.
  • Accessibility: The centre is fully accessible. If you need a pool lift or have specific mobility needs, please speak with a staff member at the front desk when you arrive.
  • Program registration: If you want to join a swim class or a guided fitness session, make sure to register before your preferred time fills up. Early registration gives you the best spot.

We appreciate your patience as we prepare for a busy season. If you have questions about the schedule or need help booking a group session, contact the Parks and Recreation team at 519-555-0121. For a full list of summer hours and program dates, visit the recreation facility page.
