The City of Wrenford has finished installing new pathway lighting along the Tamsin River Trail near the falls, just in time for the annual Lights at the Falls celebration. The upgrade, completed on October 25, 2024, improves visibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists using the trail during the darker winter months.
The new solar-powered LED fixtures run along the eastern edge of the trail, from Riverside Flats Park up to Benchlands Lookout Park. Crews from the Parks & Trails team also cleared overgrown brush and repaired uneven surfaces to ensure the path is accessible and easy to navigate.
“We want everyone to feel comfortable walking or cycling to the holiday lights, even after dark,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “This lighting upgrade is a permanent improvement that makes the trail safer year-round, while adding to the festive atmosphere during the winter season.”
Residents can expect the new lights to activate at dusk and stay on until 11:00 p.m. The pathway remains open to pedestrians, cyclists, and winter walkers at all times. Motor vehicles are not permitted on the trail, consistent with city by-laws.
If you notice a damaged fixture or a burnt-out bulb, please report it through Service Wrenford or call 519-555-0100. The City will dispatch a maintenance crew within two business days to inspect and repair the issue.
