On-demand service expands to Westbrook Community Arena area

Wrenford Transit is expanding its Wrenford Flex on-demand service to cover the Westbrook Community Arena area, with the new zone opening on Monday, January 6, 2025. The update adds four virtual stops within a three-block radius of the arena at 40 Westbrook Drive, making it easier for skaters, fans, and visitors to reach downtown and other parts of the city.

Wrenford Flex lets you book a ride through the Wrenford Transit app instead of waiting at a fixed bus stop. You enter your destination, and a transit operator picks you up at a virtual stop nearby. The service runs Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with an extended evening shift on Routes 3 and 8 that runs until midnight. Riders should arrive at their virtual stop within a ten-minute window after booking.

The new Westbrook zone fits into the existing network alongside the Northgate, Industrial Park East, and Wildrye zones. If you are heading to the arena for a public skate or a league game, you can request a ride directly to a virtual stop on Westbrook Drive or the connecting residential streets. Standard transit fares apply. A single ride is $3.50 for adults and $3.00 for youth and seniors. Monthly passes are also available for regular commuters.

"We are thrilled to extend Wrenford Flex to the Westbrook Community Arena area," said Daniel Osei, transit manager. "This gives arena users, families, and visitors a reliable, affordable way to get downtown or across the city without needing a car. Having a pickup point right near the arena cuts down on traffic and parking pressure on game nights."

To use the service, simply open the Wrenford Transit app, select Wrenford Flex, and enter your pickup location. The app will show you the nearest virtual stop. You can book up to fourteen days in advance, and changes or cancellations are free as long as you do them at least four hours before your trip.
