Council approves site for new emergency services campus near East Wrenford

City Council has selected a site on Concession 4 Road for a new emergency services campus to serve the growing east side of Wrenford. The decision was made during the regular Council meeting on May 8, 2024.

The approved parcel at 4200 Concession 4 Road will host a combined fire station and paramedic headquarters. The new campus will replace ageing facilities and provide faster response times for the Industrial Park East, Eastfield, and Copper Ridge neighbourhoods. The building will include dedicated bays for fire trucks and ambulances, a training classroom, and a maintenance shop for heavy equipment.

“Having a single campus for fire and paramedic crews on the east side will cut response times and give our teams a modern place to train and rest between calls,” said GM Protective Services Chief Darren MacAulay. “It is a major step forward in keeping our neighbours safe.”

Construction on the $18.5 million project is expected to begin this summer after the final design plans are reviewed. The building phase will take two years, and the new campus is scheduled to open in early 2026. Funding is drawn from the 2024 Capital Works Program.

Residents can track the progress of this project and view other planned infrastructure upgrades on the capital works program page. For more information about Wrenford's fire and paramedic services, visit the Public Safety page.
