Council approves new parking rates effective November 1

City Council has approved updated parking rates and permit fees effective November 1, 2024. The changes will help the City cover rising operating costs and keep our downtown streets moving for residents, businesses, and visitors.

On-street pay parking rates in the core zones will increase slightly to match the cost of running the system. Zone A now costs $2.25 per hour, Zone B is $1.75 per hour, and Zone C is $1.25 per hour. The Market Square Parking Garage rates follow the same pattern, with the first hour at $2.25, each additional hour at $1.75, and a daily maximum of $13.00.

Annual permits for residents, students, and visitors will also see a small increase. Residential parking permits rise to $80.00 annually, visitor permits to $30.00 annually, and student permits to $55.00 annually. City Treasurer Leah Thibodeau says the changes are necessary to keep the system running smoothly. “These adjustments ensure we can maintain our current level of service, fund necessary infrastructure upgrades, and keep our downtown accessible for everyone,” Thibodeau says.

Businesses that use commercial parking permits or contractor permits will pay slightly higher daily and weekly rates. Contractor parking permits are now $135.00 per day with an $80.00 administrative fee for same-day requests, and commercial permits are $135.00 per week. Replacement permits for lost or damaged digital passes will cost $17.50.

You will see the new rates on pay stations, in the Wrenford Park mobile app, and on the City website. If you have a monthly or annual permit, you will need to renew it using the new rates when your current term ends.
