Who needs a parking permit?

If you live or work in a zone where on-street parking is time-limited, you may need a parking permit. The permit lets you park longer than the posted signs allow. It does not guarantee a spot in front of your home or business. Parking on the street is public space, and permits just help manage demand in busy areas.

Permit types and fees

Permits are issued annually. All fees are set out in the Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151.

Permit type Annual fee Details
Residential $75.00 For homeowners and renters who live in a restricted zone.
Visitor (up to two per home) $25.00 each Allows guests to park near your home for up to 24 hours.
Accessible $25.00 For residents with a valid Ontario Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) parking permit. Must be displayed in the vehicle.
Student $50.00 For full-time students attending Tamsin College or a local school. Requires proof of enrolment.

How to apply

You can apply for a permit online through Service Wrenford, or in person at City Hall. Bring the following documents:

  • Valid driver’s licence or photo ID
  • Current vehicle registration
  • Proof of Wrenford address (lease agreement, utility bill, or property tax bill)

If you are not the registered vehicle owner, you must provide a letter from the owner declaring you are the principal operator. Employer-owned vehicles require a letter on company letterhead.

Permits are digital. You will receive a PDF by email that you must print and display on your windscreen. If your permit does not arrive within five business days, contact us.

Where you can park

Your permit is only valid for the zone assigned to your address. You must park within that zone, and you must display the permit clearly on your windscreen. Parking is still subject to all other rules in the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. You must not block driveways, fire hydrants, or snow-clearing routes.
