The main trail at Benchlands Lookout Park is open to walkers and cyclists again. City crews finished repairing a slipped section of the path last week, clearing the way for spring recreation.
Work began in late March after staff noticed erosion along the slope near the lookout. The Parks & Trails team worked with the Roads & Winter Maintenance crew to stabilise the ground, replace the gravel surface, and reinforce the drainage channels. The repair was completed on March 29, and the trail reopened to the public on April 2.
"We know how important this trail is for our neighbours who live in the Benchlands neighbourhood," said Samuel Adeyemi, GM of Infrastructure and Planning. "Getting it back in shape before the warmer weather arrived was a top priority for our teams."
Residents are reminded to stay on the marked path while enjoying the view over the Tamsin River. If you see any new damage, washed-out sections, or fallen trees on the trail system, please let us know so crews can respond quickly. You can report a park maintenance issue online or call the Civic Operations Centre at 519-555-0112.
The Tamsin River Trail System now has 64 kilometres of connected routes. Check the Find hiking and cycling trails page for maps, parking spots, and seasonal rules. If you are planning a walk or a ride this weekend, the Benchlands Lookout trail is in great shape and ready for you.
