The annual Benchlands Folk Festival is back this summer, and organizers have released the 2024 lineup of local musicians and performers. The free outdoor event will take place the second weekend of August at Benchlands Lookout Park, drawing crowds to the west bank of the Tamsin River for two days of live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities.
This year’s festival will highlight the rich musical talent in Southwestern Ontario, featuring folk, acoustic, and roots acts from Wrenford and surrounding townships. The stage at Fallsview Arts Centre will host a series of performances from sunrise to sunset, with headliners announced closer to the event.
“The Benchlands Folk Festival has grown into one of our most beloved community traditions,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “It brings neighbours together to celebrate local artistry and enjoy the outdoors. We encourage you to come out, bring a blanket, and support our homegrown performers.”
Event coordinator Rosa Castellano notes that the festival relies on community volunteers and local sponsors to keep admission free. She advises you to arrive early, as parking fills quickly along Benchlands Drive. You can also use Wrenford Transit routes that stop near the park, or walk and cycle along the Tamsin River Trail to avoid traffic.
You should review the park bylaws before heading to the festival. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and grills or personal cooking equipment are not permitted in the festival grounds. The City’s By-law Enforcement team will be present to assist with safety and order. For a full list of park rules, visit our park bylaws page.
You will find food trucks and local craft vendors lining the pathways, and a dedicated kids’ zone will offer craft stations and storytelling sessions. The festival also features a donation drive for the Wrenford Food Bank, so please bring non-perishable items upon entry.
