City of Wrenford parks crews are beginning inspections of pathway lighting along the Tamsin River Trail and through the Fallsview neighbourhood. The work is a key step ahead of the annual Lights at the Falls event in December.
Crews will walk the trail system to test every light fixture, check solar panels, and make sure all pathways are properly illuminated for visitors. If you see a light that is out or a pathway that needs attention, you can report it here. The Parks & Trails team will triage the issue and send a crew out within two business days.
"We want to make sure every pathway is well-lit and safe for families walking through the festive displays," said Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "We also ask that visitors follow our trail etiquette and stick to the main paths during the event so we can keep the area clear and accessible for everyone."
As the days get shorter and the weather turns colder, the City also wants to remind residents about holiday and winter safety. If you are putting up outdoor lights or decorations, keep all cords and fabrics away from heat sources and turn the lights off when you leave the house or go to bed. For live Christmas trees, the City accepts curbside pickup the first two weeks of January. If you need a burn permit for holiday bonfires or fireplaces, visit the Fire prevention office or call 519-555-0115.
Ice and water safety is also a priority this time of year. The City does not monitor or test ice thickness on the Tamsin River or Ambrel Lake. Stay off all frozen waterways, storm channels, and detention ponds. If you see an emergency on the ice, call 9-1-1 immediately.
