On November 14, 2023, Wrenford City Council approved a $285,000 capital budget to repair and upgrade the splash pad at Ambrel Lake Park. The work will take place from November 2023 through March 2024.
The splash pad has been serving families since it opened in 2018. Over time, the plumbing and spray deck have worn out. The new equipment will use less water, reduce maintenance costs, and provide safer spray nozzles for children.
"Keeping our parks safe and fun for families is a top priority. This upgrade will ensure the splash pad runs efficiently for years to come," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services.
During the repair period, the splash pad area will be fenced off. The rest of the park, including the playground, boardwalk, and picnic shelters, will remain open for use. Wrenford Parks & Trails crews will be on site daily, so you may hear some noise from machinery between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
If you notice any issues with the park or the construction work, you can report a park maintenance issue online. The City will notify you when the splash pad is ready to open for the 2024 season.
