Rules and safety

The shelter is a low-barrier space designed to keep you safe. We ask that you respect other guests and staff, follow staff directions, and report any concerns to the front desk. If you are unable to stay for any reason, staff will help you find another placement. The building uses security cameras and designated screening rooms to protect privacy and safety.

The shelter is located at 400 Railside Road. It is a short walk from the Tamsin River Trail and easily accessible by Wrenford Transit Route 3 and Route 7. Street parking is available along Railside Road for visitors and family members. The building is designed with a clear entrance and a secure screening area to ensure a safe transition inside.

Health and wellness partnerships

The City works closely with Tamsin Valley Public Health and local community health centres to bring wellness services directly to the shelter. Registered nurses and counsellors visit weekly to provide health checks, vaccination updates, and mental health support. Addiction specialists and peer support workers are also on-site to help guests navigate recovery resources.

What to do if the shelter is at capacity

If all 40 beds are taken, staff will connect you with partner agencies and warming centres in the area. You can also call the shelter line for real-time updates on bed availability.
