Child care fee subsidy program

Find out if you qualify for the Child Care Fee Subsidy Program and how to apply for financial help with licensed child care in Wrenford.

About the program

The Child Care Fee Subsidy Program helps eligible families pay for licensed child care in Wrenford. If your household income falls below the set limit, the City can cover part or all of your child care fees. This program works with licensed day cares, preschools, and before- and after-school programs.

Who can apply

  • You must live in Wrenford and have a legal right to remain in Canada.
  • Your household's net annual income must be under $89,500 for a family of three, or $105,000 for a family of four. These limits adjust each year based on the provincial consumer price index.
  • Your child must need care while you work, study, or look for a job.
  • You must enrol your child in a licensed child care provider that holds a permit from Tamsin Valley Public Health.

How to apply

  1. Download the application form from the Child care in Wrenford page, or pick one up at the Service Wrenford counter in City Hall.
  2. Fill out the form and attach proof of income for the last twelve months. This includes pay stubs, Ontario Works statements, or a Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.
  3. Submit your application online or bring it to the Service Wrenford counter at 100 Mercer Street. You can also mail it to P.O. Box 5521, Station Main, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1.
  4. Book a short intake interview with a Community Navigator. They will review your paperwork and answer questions about the program.

How much you pay

Your weekly fee is based on a sliding scale that matches your net household income. Families with the lowest incomes pay the least, and families near the income limit pay closer to the full fee. The City pays the rest directly to your child care provider.

Subsidy amounts are recalculated every year. You must reapply each August to keep your spot. If your income or family situation changes at any time, you must tell us within five business days.

Next steps and contact

It usually takes ten business days to process a complete application. Once approved, you will receive a letter with your provider code and weekly fee amount. Bring this letter to your child care program to activate your subsidy.

If you need help filling out the form or want to check your eligibility, visit the Service Wrenford counter or call the Community Support line. Community Navigators can also meet you at your local recreation centre.
