Report a street light issue

Learn how to report a burnt out, leaning, or missing street light, and how to request new lighting for your area.

Report a street light problem

You can report a street light that is not working, leaning, or causing a safety issue. You can also request a new street light for a dark area.

What to report

  • Burnt out or flickering light
  • Leaning, damaged, or fallen pole
  • Light that is too bright or shining into a home
  • Request for a new street light

How to report

Report your issue using Service Wrenford 311. You can call 311 from inside the city, or 519-555-0100 from outside. You can also use the Service Wrenford online portal.

What to include

Please provide the following details so our crews can find the location quickly:

  • The exact address or nearest intersection
  • The type of pole (wood or metal), if you know it
  • A clear description of the problem (e.g., burnt out, leaning, too bright)
  • A photo, if possible

New street lights

New street lights are usually installed during roadway improvement projects or when a new neighbourhood is built. If your area is dark and needs lighting, tell us when you report the issue. Our Roads & Winter Maintenance team reviews requests when we plan road work in your area.

Light pollution and fixtures

The City uses flat lens fixtures to keep light focused on the road and reduce glare. We do not install shields, but we can retrofit older drop-style lenses with newer flat types through our Street Light LED Retrofit Programme. On LED lights, we can add an internal baffle to cut down on light pollution.

Public safety hazards

If you see a downed pole, sparking wires, or an electrical hazard, call 911 immediately. Do not touch the pole or wires. Stay back until emergency crews arrive.

Processing times

Our Roads and Winter Maintenance team reviews reports within two business days. We aim to complete repairs or inspections within five business days, depending on the issue. Check Service Alerts for any planned outages.
