Debris on the road can damage vehicles, block drainage, and create hazards for drivers and cyclists. If you see trash, sand, leaves, or construction waste in the street, let us know so we can clear it quickly.
How to report road debris
You can report debris through the Service Wrenford Online portal or by calling 311 (or 519-555-0100 from outside the city). Please include your street address and a photo if you can. Our Roads and Winter Maintenance team will review your report within two business days and schedule a crew.
What the City clears
- Leaves and yard waste: Crews clear leaves from streets from November to January. If you have a large amount of green bin waste, place it in a paper bag at the curb instead of leaving it loose in the street.
- Sanding materials: After snowstorms, crews sweep sand and salt residue from major roads and neighbourhood streets. You can report a missed street through the portal.
- Illegal dumping: If someone has left furniture, appliances, or construction debris on a public road, we treat it as a by-law violation. Our By-law Enforcement officers will investigate and issue fines where appropriate.
- Construction waste: We will clear debris left by contractors or builders. If a construction site is consistently creating a mess, you can report the site directly.
What you or the property owner must clear
The City does not pick up debris that belongs on private property. This includes:
- Yard waste, garbage, or recycling left in the street or on the boulevard.
- Construction materials stored on your driveway or in your yard.
- Snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways.
If debris is sitting in front of your home, please move it to your curb on collection day or take it to the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. Leaving it in the street can block storm drains and cause flooding during heavy rain.
Safety while you wait
While our crews are on their way, please drive carefully around piles of debris. Avoid swerving into other lanes to go around them. If a pile of debris is blocking a lane or creating an immediate danger, call 311 and mark the word "urgent" in your report so our dispatchers can send a crew right away.
