Who needs a contractor parking permit

If you are a contractor, tradesperson, or business that needs to park work vehicles in a parking zone, loading zone, or along a curb lane in Wrenford, you will need a contractor parking permit. This permit lets you temporarily reserve on-street parking for your crew and equipment.

You must have a permit for:

  • Construction deliveries and material staging
  • Service work, such as window cleaning or sign installation
  • Moving trucks for residential or commercial moves
  • Waste containers or storage bins placed on the street
  • Crane lifts, concrete pours, or other activities that block a lane

How to apply

Apply through the Contractor Parking Reservation Programme online portal. You must submit your application at least two business days before the date you need the permit. This gives our parking staff enough time to print and post signs.

You will need to provide:

  • The exact street address and curb lane you want to reserve
  • The date and time range for the permit
  • A description of the work or deliveries
  • A certificate of commercial general liability insurance naming the City of Wrenford

If your work will close a travel lane, bike lane, or sidewalk, you must also submit a traffic management plan. Our staff will review your plan to make sure pedestrians and drivers stay safe.

Permit fees

Permit fees are set by the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. Pay your fees online when you submit your application. If you need a permit for the same day, a $75.00 administrative fee applies.

What to expect on permit days

Our parking crew will install "No Parking" signs in your reserved lane one to two business days before your permit starts. Keep a printed copy of your permit in your work truck.

If a car is parked in your reserved space after the signs go up, it will be towed at the owner's expense. You will not get a refund if a car was already there before the signs were installed, or if someone removes or damages the signs.

Remember, a permit does not give you the right to move a car that was legally parked there before your permit started. You will need to contact the owner directly.
