Your waste collection schedule
Keep your home clean and your neighbourhood tidy by following the regular collection schedule. Wrenford collects garbage, Blue Box recycling, and Green Bin organics on a set weekly or biweekly cycle based on your property type.
How often is your waste collected?
- Garbage: Collected every other week (biweekly).
- Blue Box recycling: Collected every week.
- Green Bin organics: Collected every week.
Your recycling and organics are collected on the same day each week. Your garbage truck comes on a separate day every other week. Check your collection schedule or use the Wrenford 311 app to see exactly which day your property is served. The Blue Box program is run by producers under the provincial system, so your recycling is collected on the same day as your Green Bin.
When and where to put your bins
Place your bins at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on your collection day. Leave at least one metre of space between each bin so the truck arm can lift them safely. Do not place bins next to cars, mailboxes, or overhanging branches. The collection crew will not stop for bins that are blocked or harder to reach. If you live in a multi-unit building, follow the multi-family guidelines for proper bin placement and storage.
What happens on statutory holidays?
On days when City offices are closed for a statutory holiday, collection times shift. If your regular collection day falls on a holiday, your garbage pickup moves to the next business day. Recycling and organics keep their usual weekly schedule. You can track these changes in the holiday schedule posted each December.
Changing your collection frequency
Most single-family homes and duplexes are on the standard schedule. If you need more frequent garbage pickups, or if you are managing a multi-unit building, you can request an adjustment. A $35.00 administrative fee applies to each approved schedule change. To adjust your service, call 311 or email [email protected]. Multi-family properties must arrange their own private waste haulers under the Multi-family property waste services guidelines.
Missed collections and route delays
Sometimes weather, road closures, or equipment issues delay the truck. If you have not seen your collector by 4:00 p.m. on collection day, report it using the 311 app, the website, or by calling 519-555-0100. Our team will schedule a make-up pickup within 48 hours. You can also sign up for Wrenford Waste Watch, a free text-alert programme that warns you about route changes before they happen. To report a missed pickup, use this online form or call 311.
