What to do if your cart is damaged or missing
Waste carts can sometimes get crushed during collection or go missing after a long weekend. If your cart is broken, leaking, or no longer at your home, you can request a replacement through Service Wrenford.
Damaged or broken carts
If your cart is damaged due to normal wear and tear or an accident during collection, a replacement is free of charge. Our waste crew will note the issue, and a new cart will be delivered to your property within 5 to 10 business days.
Lost or misplaced carts
If you cannot locate your cart, you may request a replacement for a small administrative fee. Please check with your neighbours first, as carts are sometimes moved to adjacent properties or stored in garages during severe weather.
Changing your cart size
Residents can request a different size garbage cart if their current cart is not meeting their needs. You can also request an additional cart for multi-unit buildings.
- Smaller cart requests: If you request a smaller cart, the new rate will be applied to your utility bill even before the new cart arrives. Wait times depend on inventory and weather conditions.
- Larger cart requests: You will not be charged the higher rate until the larger cart is actually delivered to your property.
To ensure your exchange is processed correctly, please leave your current cart at the curb until 3:00 p.m. on your scheduled collection day until the swap is complete. Staff will collect the old cart and leave the new one in its place.

Need a second cart?
If you live in a multi-unit building or have a large household, you may request an additional garbage cart. Please note that an annual fee applies for each extra cart delivered to your property. You can also drop off extra or damaged carts at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility or the Northgate Drop-off Depot.
Common questions
Why was my cart missed?
Carts must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Ensure the cart is not overfilled and that there is 1 metre of space on all sides. If your cart was missed, simply leave it out for the next scheduled collection or report it online for priority processing.
Can I wash my cart?
Yes. We host free cart washing days on the first Saturday of every month at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. You can also hose it down at home using a garden hose and a little dish soap.
