What you can do
Anyone in Wrenford can speak at a regular City Council meeting. You can share your views on agenda items, public hearings, or budget discussions. You can also submit written comments on any topic, even if the item does not allow public speakers. Written comments go into the public record and are read aloud by the chair if you choose.
How to register
To register, visit the Meetings & Agendas section and select Sign up to speak next to your chosen meeting. Follow the prompts to enter your name, contact details, and the agenda item you want to discuss. You can also register by phone or in person at the front desk. Check the agenda page to see which items allow public speakers. Not every agenda item opens the floor to the public.
Rules and deadlines
The deadline to register is 4:30 p.m. on the Friday before the meeting. If you miss this deadline, you can still ask to speak during the public comment period, but your spot is not guaranteed. Each speaker gets a five-minute speaking limit. This time does not include answers to questions from councillors. You may only speak about the issue that is being considered at the meeting.
Accessibility and support
We want every voice to be heard. Please give us two weeks notice so we can arrange services for you. We offer large print and Braille meeting documents, hearing loop assistive devices, and real-time captioning. If you need an interpreter, contact the Council meeting support team when you register. For speakers attending a public hearing or policy meeting, we provide City Hall parkade validation and two complimentary transit tickets through Wrenford Access. The Council Chambers feature an audio visual setup with a document viewer and laptop connection.
What happens after you register
Once you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email with your speaker number and detailed instructions. The speaking order is set by the chair. If you are absent when your number is called, the next speaker on the list will be invited. Following your presentation, councillors may ask you questions. All meetings are livestreamed, and recordings stay on the Wrenford Council Meeting Archive for two years.
