Get help with Council meetings

The Clerk's Office supports residents who want to review meeting materials, submit items for the public agenda, or participate in City Council and committee meetings. If you need assistance navigating the Meetings & Agendas section or have a question about an upcoming session, you can reach us by phone, email, or in person. Our team is here to help you understand how the municipal decision-making process works and how you can take part.

Submit an item to the public agenda

You can ask Council or a committee to discuss a topic by submitting a public agenda item. Requests must be received by the Clerk's Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the business day before the scheduled meeting. You can submit your request through the online form on our website, or send it by email or mail. Written submissions for public hearings follow the same deadline and must be marked with the correct hearing title to be included in the published agenda. Late requests will not be added to the agenda for that session, but you can still speak during the public comment period if you attend the meeting.

Participate in a meeting

You can attend a meeting in person at the Council Chambers, listen to the Access council meeting recordings livestream online, or join virtually if you have registered as a delegate. If you are speaking, you will be given five minutes to present your comments. The City provides virtual attendance links to all registered delegates so you can participate from home. You may also submit written comments ahead of the meeting; the Clerk will read them aloud if you cannot attend. All meetings are livestreamed and archived for two years, so you can view past discussions at any time.

Accessibility and accommodations

We want everyone to be able to follow council business. If you need an accommodation to attend a meeting in person, please let us know at least two weeks before the scheduled date. We can arrange wheelchair access through the Water Street entrance, provide large print materials, or set up assistive listening devices. For virtual meetings, the livestream includes automated captions. If you need a different format or additional support, contact the Accessibility Coordinator directly.
