About this policy
This policy sets out the standards of behaviour we expect from everyone who works for, volunteers with, or represents the City of Wrenford. A respectful environment helps us deliver safe services, build trust with residents, and support each other every day. When we treat one another with dignity, we create a stronger workplace and a better city for everyone.
Who this applies to
This policy covers all city employees, contractors, volunteers, and staff who work in city facilities. It also applies to mayor and council members, as well as board and committee members serving on city panels. If you represent the city in any official capacity, these standards follow you.
Key principles
We are committed to a workplace where everyone feels safe and valued. This means:
- Treating everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of background or role
- Not tolerating harassment, discrimination, bullying or intimidation
- Speaking up when you see behaviour that crosses the line
- Following provincial laws like the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Human Rights Code
- Using city resources responsibly and keeping digital communications professional
How to report a concern
If you experience or witness behaviour that goes against this policy, you can report it in a few ways:
- Contact Human Resources directly at [email protected] or 519-555-0140
- Reach out to your supervisor or department head
- Submit a confidential report through the city's compliance portal
- For issues involving council or board members, contact the City Manager's office
We take every report seriously. You will not face retaliation for reporting a concern in good faith. All reports are handled according to the Privacy policy for residents and the Freedom of information FAQ. If you need an accommodation to report a concern, please contact the accessibility team.
What happens next
After a report is submitted, the relevant team reviews the information to determine the best way to address it. Depending on the situation, this may involve a review of city procedures, a meeting with the individuals involved, or a formal investigation. You will be kept informed of the process while we protect the privacy of everyone involved. If you need support during this time, the city offers counselling and an employee assistance programme through our benefits package.
