Find your volunteer match

Volunteering is a rewarding way to share your skills, meet new people and make Wrenford a better place to live. You can gain experience, learn new skills and help deliver the programs and services your neighbours rely on.

There are opportunities for all ages and schedules. Use the categories below to find where your time and talents are needed most.

Neighbourhood and environmental stewardship

  • Snow Angels Program: Help seniors and people with limited mobility clear their sidewalks after a snowfall. You must be at least 18 years old, or 13 to 17 with adult supervision.
  • Catch Basin Adoption Program: Adopt a catch basin near your home. Keeping it clear of leaves and debris helps prevent local flooding.
  • Green Streets Volunteer Program: Beautify traffic calming areas and park edges. Join seasonal weed pulls and planting days led by our Parks team.

Public safety and emergency support

  • Emergency Support Services: Assist the City during a disaster or major emergency. Training is provided before you are deployed.
  • Wrenford Police Service volunteers: The Police Service offers community-based roles. You can help with crime prevention initiatives and public events.
  • Fire Cadet Program: Youth aged 14 and older can join this program to learn emergency response skills, build confidence and prepare for future careers.

Recreation, parks and trails

  • Recreation facility helpers: Support programs at Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, Northgate Aquatic Centre and the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. Tasks include reception, program assistance and equipment setup.
  • Golf Ambassador Program: Welcome guests, answer questions and help maintain pace of play at Larch Heights Golf Course.
  • Off-Leash Ambassador Program: Educate visitors and ensure safety at the Hollis Park Off-Leash Area.

Community and civic contribution

  • Boards, commissions and committees: Apply your expertise and personal passion to help shape policy and advise on City issues. We accept applications each fall.
  • Youth Council: Young people aged 13 to 19 can join to speak up for youth issues and help plan events.

Festivals and events

Help run Wrenford's biggest celebrations. Volunteers are needed for the Tamsin River Run, Canada Day in the Park, the Benchlands Folk Festival and Lights at the Falls. Shifts vary, and you can usually pick the shifts that work for your schedule.
