What you can do

Volunteering your time helps keep Wrenford running smoothly. You can assist with seasonal events, support neighbourhood clean-ups, help at community centres, or provide administrative support. Volunteers work alongside paid staff to deliver programs, maintain public spaces, and connect residents with city services. Most roles require no prior experience, just a willingness to help.

How to apply

Applying is free and straightforward. Visit the Volunteer opportunities page to browse current openings. Fill out the online application form with your contact details, availability, and any skills or experience you have. A brief background check is required for roles that involve working with youth or vulnerable residents. Once reviewed, a volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule an orientation.

Rules and expectations

Code of conduct — While on duty, you represent the City. You will follow the same respectful environment standards as city employees, including the Anti-racism and anti-oppression policy. Treat everyone with dignity, follow instructions from your supervisor, and keep confidential information secure.

Health and safety — Your safety comes first. The City provides the necessary equipment and training for your role. If you work outdoors, dress for the weather and stay hydrated. Report any hazards, slips, or equipment issues to your supervisor immediately.

Accessibility — The City follows the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). If you need accommodations, such as modified duties, assistive devices, or accessible meeting spaces, tell your coordinator. We will work with you to find a suitable role.

Hours and flexibility — Most positions range from two to four hours per week, though some offer more flexibility. You can usually choose your preferred shifts, subject to program needs. Summer and holiday seasons often require extra help for events and park maintenance. There is no fee to volunteer or to apply.
