Beauty and body services licence

Learn how to get a business licence for your beauty salon, spa, or body services in Wrenford.

Who needs this licence

If you run a business in Wrenford that offers beauty or body services, you need a beauty and body services business licence. This includes hair salons, barbershops, nail studios, esthetic clinics, and tanning facilities. You must have a licence before you open your doors or serve your first client.

What the licence covers

This licence category applies to businesses that provide personal care treatments. You must list every service you offer when you apply. Common services include:

  • Hair cutting, styling, and colouring
  • Manicures, pedicures, and nail art
  • Facials, waxing, and skin care treatments
  • Body massage and relaxation therapies (non-medical)
  • Permanent makeup and tattooing
  • Sunbed and spray-tan services

If you also offer medical treatments, physiotherapy, or clinical procedures, you will need additional permits from provincial health authorities and the City of Wrenford.

How to apply

Applying is quick and fully online. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Wrenford Business Portal and create a business account.
  2. Select Beauty and body services licence from the business type menu.
  3. Enter your business name, owner details, and the address where services will be provided.
  4. Upload your required documents (listed below).
  5. Pay the annual fee securely through the portal.
  6. Wait for your approval email. You can print your licence from your account dashboard.

Requirements and documents

Before we approve your application, you must provide the following:

  • Zoning confirmation: Your business address must be zoned for commercial or personal service use. Check the Zoning map to make sure your location is allowed.
  • Proof of insurance: General liability insurance of at least $2,000,000 naming the City of Wrenford as an additional insured.
  • Health and safety compliance: All equipment must meet provincial health standards. You must follow sanitation rules for tools, waterlines, and treatment rooms.
  • Business registration: If you operate under a name other than your legal name, attach your provincial business registration.

Fees and renewal

The annual fee for a beauty and body services licence is $165.00. This covers your business operations for the full calendar year. A renewal notice will be mailed or emailed to you by early December. You must pay before December 31 to keep your licence active for the following year. A 10 per cent late payment fee is added after the deadline.

Inspections and compliance

Once your licence is issued, a City inspector will visit your location at least once a year. The inspection checks for cleanliness, proper sterilization of tools, safe water systems, and clear emergency exits. You must keep your business address up to date in the Wrenford Business Portal so we know where to send inspection notices. If you close your business, you must submit a written closure notice within 30 days.
