Donate to the archives

Learn how to donate historical records, photographs, and business documents to the Old Mill Museum & Archives for safe keeping and public research.

Help preserve Wrenford's story

The Old Mill Museum & Archives collects and protects historical records so future generations can learn from the past. When you donate personal papers, business documents, photographs, or community group records, you make sure these stories are kept safe in a climate-controlled environment instead of sitting in a home attic.

What we collect

We welcome materials that show the history of our city, our neighbourhoods, and the people who live here. Good examples include:

  • Personal diaries, letters, and family photographs
  • Business ledgers, meeting minutes, and company brochures
  • Society and club records, including constitution amendments and event flyers
  • Audio recordings, films, and posters
  • Maps, architectural drawings, and blueprints

How to prepare your donation

Please do not reorganize, repair, clean, or remove staples from your materials. We prefer to keep items in the order they were created. Our preservation staff can handle repairs and proper storage later. If your records are still in active use by a group or business, we can set up a regular schedule for transferring older documents.

Copyright and public access

When you donate records, we ask if you are willing to transfer the copyright to the City of Wrenford Archives. This allows us to share copies with researchers, teachers, and the public. If your materials contain sensitive information, we can discuss placing temporary restrictions on access. You will always be listed as the donor in our records.

How to donate

Follow these steps to donate your records:

  1. Contact the Heritage & Archives Coordinator to discuss what you have. We will confirm that the materials fit our collection mandate.
  2. Complete the Archival Donation Program online. You will attach a list of your items and agree to the terms.
  3. Bring or mail your materials to the Old Mill Museum & Archives. We will sign a Certificate of Gift to confirm receipt.
  4. If we cannot accept certain items, we will send you a polite letter explaining why and may suggest other local groups that might be interested.
