Explore Wrenford's story
Wrenford grew from a single grist mill at the Tamsin River falls in 1834. Today, it is a city of 92,400 people. You can explore our past through the Old Mill Museum & Archives, historic trails, and community records. This page shows you how to visit the museum, join a guided tour, and access historical documents for your own research.
Visit the archives and museum
The Old Mill Museum & Archives holds photographs, maps, and documents that show how our neighbourhoods changed over time. You can walk through the restored 1834 grist mill and look at the city archives reading room. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 12 Mill Street. Visitors are welcome to browse the exhibit halls at no charge. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. If you bring a large group of ten or more people, please register in advance so we can prepare the space.
Join a heritage walking tour
Our Heritage Walking Tours take you through the Mill Street Heritage Conservation District and along the Tamsin River Trail. Guides share stories about the railway, the bridges, and the people who built the city. Tours run on the first Saturday of every month from May to October. Sign up at the museum front desk or call 519-555-0133. Wear sturdy shoes and bring rain gear if the forecast calls for it. The tour covers roughly two kilometres and includes stops at the Centennial Gardens and the old railway corridor.
Research assistance and fees
Most archives are free to browse. If you need staff help to search for specific records, like old building permits or tax rolls, a research assistance fee of $35.00 per hour applies. You can book a research slot in advance through the museum desk. Copies of documents are available for a small charge. Please note that some fragile materials are only available for on-site viewing and cannot be taken out of the reading room. You must sign a handling agreement before touching restricted items.
