What is a parking ticket?
A parking ticket is a notice of violation issued under the By-laws Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. It is given when a vehicle is parked in violation of city rules, such as in an expired zone, during a winter parking ban, or on a snow route. Paying your ticket quickly is your responsibility, and the City is not responsible for lost or delayed payments.
Pay early, pay less
Pay within 14 days of receiving your ticket to take advantage of the reduced amount. If you wait longer, the full amount plus late fees will be added. Keep your ticket or by-law notice handy so you can enter the ticket number when you pay.
How to pay
You can choose the payment method that works best for you. All payments must include your ticket number so the system can apply it to the correct vehicle.
Online
Visit the City Services portal to pay securely with a credit card. The online system is open 24 hours a day. If the website is unavailable, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser. For urgent deadlines, call Contact 311 or 519-555-0100 to speak with a staff member.
By phone
Call Contact 311 if you are inside city limits, or 519-555-0100 from outside. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will need your ticket number and a credit card.
In person
Visit the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall (100 Mercer Street). We accept cash, debit, credit, and cheque. Bring your ticket or by-law notice. If you cannot make it during business hours, you can use the secure drop box at the main entrance between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
By mail
Send a cheque or money order payable to the City of Wrenford to:
- Revenue Services
- Room 100, Wrenford City Hall
- 100 Mercer Street
- Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1
Write your ticket number on the memo line. Do not send cash by mail.
What happens if I don't pay?
If you do not pay within the initial window, the City will mail a notice of pending summons. If the amount remains unpaid, you will receive a parking summons. At that point, the case moves to the Provincial Offences Court at 120 Church Street. You can contest the ticket in court or pay the full amount plus an additional $25.00 adjudication fee if the judge upholds the violation.
Common parking fees
Here are some standard fines you might see on a notice:
- Expired permit or unpaid meter: $50.00
- Snow route violation: $160.00
- Abandoned vehicle on a public roadway: $203.00
