Report a traffic safety concern

Learn how to report traffic hazards, speeding, noise complaints, and unsafe driving to Wrenford's traffic safety teams.

Help us keep Wrenford roads safe

Safe streets depend on all of us. Whether you have noticed a dangerous intersection, a speeding vehicle, or a noisy exhaust, your report helps our teams take action. The City of Wrenford works closely with By-law Enforcement and the Wrenford Police Service to address traffic concerns through education, engineering, and enforcement.

How to report a concern

We rely on you to let us know about problems on our roads. Please use the methods below to share your observations:

  • Service Wrenford portal: Use the online form to report non-emergency traffic issues, including potholes, damaged signs, and missed collections. See Report a road or sidewalk issue for more details.
  • Wrenford 311: Dial 311 from a city phone or call 519-555-0100 to speak with a representative.
  • Wrenford Police Service: For immediate safety risks or criminal traffic matters, contact the Police Service directly at 519-555-0117. Visit Wrenford Police Service Headquarters for more information on traffic initiatives.
  • 911: Call 911 only if there is an immediate danger to people or property.

Wrenford traffic safety zones

Our enforcement teams focus on areas with the highest risk of collisions. You will see speed awareness signs and increased patrols in the following zones:

Zone type Hours Speed limit
School zones Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during school days 30 km/h
Playground zones Every day, 8:30 a.m. to 1 hour after sunset 30 km/h

Vehicle noise and exhaust regulations

Excessive noise from modified exhausts, revving engines, or loud stereos disturbs our neighbours and adds to stress in the community. The Wrenford Police Service enforces strict noise limits under the Highway Traffic Act and our local by-laws.

All vehicles must meet the following maximum sound levels:

  • At idle: 92 decibels
  • Moving above idle: 96 decibels

Officers use roadside testing equipment to measure noise, but they also consider the location, time of day, and duration of the sound. A ticket may be issued even if a decibel reading is borderline, based on the officer's assessment of the noise level.

Fines: Operating a vehicle that exceeds the legal noise limit carries a fine of $250.00. Failing to comply with an officer's request during a noise test can result in an additional $300.00 penalty.

Traffic calming and engineering

Enforcement is just one part of the solution. The City is rolling out the Wrenford Safer Mobility Strategy to redesign streets and slow traffic naturally. We are installing speed humps, curb bulges, and traffic diverters in residential areas to protect pedestrians and cyclists.

Recent projects are already making a difference. Our Left Turn Calming pilot reduced illegal left turns by 22 per cent at key intersections. You can view more statistics in our Traffic and collision data report.

Be a responsible road user

Whether you are driving, cycling, or walking, you play a vital role in keeping Wrenford safe. Please remember to:

  • Keep your vehicle in good working order, including brakes, tires, and exhaust systems.
  • Reduce stereo volume and avoid revving engines unnecessarily.
  • Stay alert in school and playground zones, and always yield to pedestrians.
  • Report any ongoing hazards so our teams can fix them quickly.

Together, we can build a city where everyone gets home safely. For questions about reporting procedures, Contact us.
