Drawing review fees

A schedule of hourly and fixed fees for reviewing engineering, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical construction drawings for commercial and multi-family projects.

Why we review construction drawings

Before we issue a building or development permit for a commercial, industrial, or multi-family project, we need to check the engineering, plumbing, and electrical drawings. This ensures your plans meet the Ontario Building Code, City of Wrenford engineering standards, and the requirements of the local utility providers.

Who must submit drawings

These fees apply to design professionals, such as consulting engineers and licensed contractors, who prepare plans for:

  • Commercial and industrial buildings
  • Multi-family residential buildings (duplexes, triplexes, and apartment buildings)
  • Public buildings and institutions

Single detached homes and secondary suites do not require a separate drawing review. Their plans are reviewed as part of the standard building permit process.

Fee schedule

All fees are set out in the Fees and Charges By-law 2025-151. You can pay online when you submit your plans, or at the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall.

How to submit your drawings

Upload your plans through the Online Building Permit Application Portal. Make sure each drawing is clearly labelled with your project number and the correct drawing type. If you are mailing paper copies, bring them to the Planning and Development office at 100 Mercer Street.

Processing times

We aim to review complete drawing sets within 15 business days. If you need a faster turnaround, you can request an expedited review for an additional 40% fee. Please note that processing times start only after your drawings pass the initial completeness check and your account is in good standing.
