You helped shape Wrenford’s path to a cleaner future. On September 20, 2026, the City released the results of the 2026 Community Energy Action Plan survey. More than 6,000 residents from all six wards took part, sharing ideas on how we can cut emissions, lower energy bills, and protect our local environment.
The survey shows strong support for climate action. Eighty-seven per cent of respondents want the City to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Residents also highlighted the need for more local renewable energy, better transit options, and greener neighbourhoods. Many pointed to our river and lake areas as places that need extra care to handle changing weather patterns.
“This survey gave us a clear map of what matters most to you,” says Robert Eng, City Manager. “We will use these results to guide our next steps, from upgrading municipal buildings to expanding green spaces and improving energy efficiency across the city.”
The City will now move into the planning phase. Staff are reviewing the feedback to build a detailed action plan that matches community priorities with provincial and federal funding opportunities. You can see where your input fits into the next phases of work on the City Services page.
As we work on the energy plan, you can already take steps to reduce your own footprint. Explore the Tamsin River Trail System to get around without a car, or join a community garden to grow local food and reduce waste. The City is also reviewing how we manage parks and natural areas to better withstand extreme weather. Learn more about protecting our local ecosystems and how we maintain our green spaces.
Thank you for helping Wrenford build a resilient, sustainable future. Stay tuned for updates on the action plan rollout in the coming months.
