Wildrye Splash Pad parking lot closes for maintenance

The parking lot at Wildrye Splash Pad (90 Wildrye Drive) will close for asphalt repairs from Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21, 2026, as Roads & Winter Maintenance crews resurface the entire lot to fix cracks and improve drainage. The splash pad itself will remain open during the work, so you can still bring the family to cool off.

Crews will block off the lot with temporary barriers and signage on Sunday evening, August 16. You will not be able to park on the lot or in the service lanes behind it while the new surface sets. The splash pad is open daily during the summer season, which runs from late June to Labour Day. Water will stay on for the spray features even while the lot is closed, so families can still enjoy the cooling mist.

When visiting the pad next week, please park on nearby residential streets where posted parking is allowed. Look for the temporary parking signs placed by crews. If you cannot find street parking, the parking lot at Ambrel Lake Park is a short walk away. You can also take Wrenford Transit and get off at the Wildrye Drive stop. Remember to check the outdoor water restrictions before filling up your water bottles or bringing extra gear.

"We want to give families a safe, smooth surface to enjoy all summer long," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "Closing the lot for five days means we can finish the work quickly and keep the pad open for the rest of the season."

If you need a break from the heat, the recreation centre nearby has air-conditioned spaces. For more details on parking rules in the area, see the main parking page. Keep an eye on service alerts for updates on the splash pad hours or any schedule changes. You can also call 519-555-0100 or dial 311 inside city limits if you have questions.
