Registration is now open for the annual Tamsin River Run, taking place on Saturday, May 17. The event will follow the Tamsin River Trail System, offering a five-kilometre family walk, a 10-kilometre run, and a half-kilometre children’s dash. Early-bird registration is available until May 10 through the online registration portal. Late registration opens May 11 and runs through race morning.
This year’s course has been adjusted to better connect the Riverside Flats Park start line with the Centennial Gardens finish area. Organizers have added a new shaded loop through the Corvid Creek Ravine Natural Area for the 10-kilometre route, providing runners with more green space and fewer intersections. Water stations will be placed at the two-kilometre and seven-kilometre marks, and certified first-aid teams will monitor the entire course.
"We are thrilled to welcome runners back to the Tamsin River Trail," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "The new course highlights the best of our neighbourhoods, and we want to make sure every participant feels safe and supported from start to finish."
Participants can register online or in person at the Service Wrenford counter, Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. Bib pickup begins May 15 at the Downtown Transit Terminal and continues on race day from 7:30 a.m. at the Riverside Flats Park start line. All runners must present a valid photo identification. Race day registration is $35.00 for the five-kilometre walk, $45.00 for the 10-kilometre run, and free for the children’s dash.
As the event approaches, residents living along the trail and finish line area should note that election sign regulations are already in effect ahead of the October 26 municipal election. Temporary community signs for the run must be placed at least twenty metres apart and two metres from the curb, in keeping with the Sign bylaw framework. Campaign signs cannot be installed on the course or at the start and finish zones until the official election period begins.
Runners are encouraged to check their voter registration before heading to the start line. The Elections Office has set up a voter information booth at the finish area to help participants verify their status and learn about advance voting dates.
