The Tamsin River Run returns on July 11, and the City of Wrenford is reminding runners, volunteers, and spectators to follow safety guidelines along the Tamsin River Trail. The event will take place along the multi-use path that runs through Riverside Flats Park and past the Wrenford Falls.
Participants can register online or at the Downtown Transit Terminal starting at 6:00 a.m. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. at Riverside Flats Park and follows the Tamsin River Trail System, covering both five and ten kilometre routes.
With warm weather arriving, event organizers are asking everyone to stay aware of their surroundings. The trail runs directly beside the water, and paths can be slippery near the bank, especially after rain. Spectators are asked to keep children and pets on the paved path and away from the river edge. If you see someone in distress in the water, call 911 immediately.
Water quality along the trail is monitored regularly by Tamsin Valley Public Health and the City. Runners with questions about current conditions can check the latest reports online. If you notice a sudden change in water clarity or smell along the route, please report it through the Water & Wastewater page so crews can investigate.
Trail users should remember that the path is shared. Cyclists, pedestrians, and runners all use the corridor, so please keep to the right and yield to slower traffic. If you are driving near the course, expect temporary road closures and follow the directions of volunteer marshals.
"We want the Tamsin River Run to be a safe and enjoyable day for everyone," says City Manager Robert Eng. "Staying on the trail, keeping pets leashed, and watching your step near the water makes a big difference for our community."
