Public skating rinks open across Wrenford for winter season

The City of Wrenford's indoor arenas and outdoor rinks are now open for the winter season. Residents can enjoy free drop-in skating at our indoor facilities and community parks through the end of March.

Indoor public skating is available at Westbrook Community Arena on Benchlands Drive and Eastfield Twin Arenas on Eastfield Road. Both locations offer regular sessions from October through March. Outdoor skating is available at Riverside Flats Park on Water Street and Centennial Gardens on Victoria Street, weather permitting.

“We are excited to open our rinks and welcome families, friends and first-time skaters to the ice,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “This season, we have added extra low-sensory sessions for those who prefer quieter environments, and we continue to offer stick-and-puck nights for hockey fans.”

Skate rentals are available at both indoor arenas. Visitors can rent adult and youth skates at the front desk. Children under six can use a free loaner pair with a parent or guardian. For the latest rental prices and hours, see the Ice skate rentals and sharpening page.

If you are looking to take lessons, the City runs Learn to Skate programs for ages three and older. Figure skating lessons are also available for those who want to work on jumps and spins. Registration for these programs opens in December and fills quickly. Visit the Learn to skate registration page to view dates and fees.

Before you head out, please check the Public skating sessions and schedules page for the latest times. Outdoor rinks may close early if the ice thaws or if the city closes roads for snow removal. Dress warmly, wear a CSA-approved helmet for safety and arrive ten minutes early to check in.

We also have a special Valentine's Day Family Skate coming up on February 14 at Riverside Flats Park. The outdoor rink will host a low-sensory session from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with hot chocolate and music. It is free and open to everyone.
