The City of Wrenford is opening public consultation to gather resident feedback on proposed voting locations for the upcoming municipal election. The goal is to identify accessible, convenient, and safe polling places across all six wards before the election on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Selecting the right voting locations takes months of planning. The City needs to review building accessibility, parking availability, public transit routes, and indoor space capacity to make sure every eligible resident can cast their ballot comfortably. Some of the spaces we are considering require temporary use or site plan approvals, which means staff must review them against city safety and accessibility standards long before election day.
"We want every resident to feel confident and welcomed when they step into a voting place," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "That means picking locations that are easy to reach by foot, wheel, or transit, and that have enough space for smooth check-in lines and private voting booths. Your feedback helps us make those choices fairly across the city."
Residents can share their thoughts in two ways. First, you can view a map of the City's initial list of potential locations and leave comments online through the community engagement portal. Second, the Elections Office will host two drop-in sessions at Wrenford City Hall on October 8 and October 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to answer questions and collect written feedback.
If you have concerns about a specific site, such as limited wheelchair access or a lack of nearby bus stops, please include the full address and a brief description when you submit your comment. Staff will review all submissions and work with Tamsin Valley Public Health and the Wrenford Police Service to confirm that any proposed location meets public safety and health requirements.
The final list of voting locations will be approved by City Council in November and published on the elections page by December. If you would like to learn more about how the City plans and approves temporary community spaces, visit Planning applications.
