The City of Wrenford has opened outdoor skating rinks across the city for the remainder of the winter season. Residents can now lace up their skates at designated locations in Riverside Flats Park, Ambrel Lake Park, and Benchlands Lookout Park.
While the ice is now ready for skating, city crews are asking residents to stay off Ambrel Lake and Corvid Creek. The fluctuating water levels and natural flow in these areas make the ice unsafe and unpredictable. Please keep children and pets away from the shoreline and all natural ice surfaces until the spring thaw.
“Outdoor skating is a cherished winter tradition in Wrenford, and we are committed to providing safe, well-maintained spaces for families to enjoy,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “Our parks and facilities teams work through the season to flood and smooth the ice, but weather conditions can change quickly. We ask that everyone skate responsibly and follow posted signs.”
You can tell an outdoor rink is officially open and safe for skating when the hockey nets are set up and the area lights are on. If a rink is still being prepared, the ice may look rough or lack equipment. Check the outdoor rink status page for real-time updates on which rinks are fully operational.
Once you are on the ice, you can rent skates or get them sharpened at any City facility desk. For full details on rink hours, seasonal passes, and safety rules, visit the public skating page. Enjoy the ice and stay warm this winter.
