Starting this fall, the Northgate Drop-off Depot at 1010 Northgate Boulevard is opening for seasonal hazardous waste collection. Residents can bring household hazardous waste (HHW) to the depot on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the season.
Household hazardous waste includes items like paints, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs, and thermometers. The service is free for all Wrenford residents. "Giving residents more convenient drop-off options makes it easier to keep these materials out of the regular garbage stream and protects our soil and water," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor.
Residents are asked to bring items in their original containers whenever possible. If a container is damaged, place it inside a sturdy, leak-proof bag. Propane tanks must be empty, and fluorescent bulbs should be kept in their original packaging or wrapped securely to prevent breakage. Do not mix different chemicals together.
The depot is located at 1010 Northgate Boulevard, Wrenford, ON N4Q 4B8. For a full list of accepted materials, preparation tips, and seasonal dates, visit the Household hazardous waste page. You can also reach the Garbage & Recycling team by calling 519-555-0100 or emailing [email protected].
