City of Wrenford staff are pleased to announce that the Northgate Aquatic Centre reopens today, Monday, September 28, at 910 Northgate Boulevard. The facility closed temporarily last week for essential upgrades to its water filtration system and waterslide machinery. City maintenance crews worked through the weekend to complete the installations and run extensive water quality tests to ensure every pool meets provincial health standards.
The 50-metre lap pool, the waterslide, and the dive tank are now open for regular drop-in use and scheduled lessons. The leisure pool, steam room, and fitness centre have been operating throughout the closure and remain available as usual. Staff have also refreshed the signage around the change rooms and pool deck to highlight the new safety protocols and accessibility features.
"We know how much our community values a quick swim after work or a family trip to the waterslide on the weekend," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "This short break allowed our maintenance teams to make important improvements that will keep our water quality high and our systems running smoothly for years to come. We appreciate the patience of our neighbours while the work was underway."
Wrenford Transit Route 8 stops directly outside the centre, and the Downtown Transit Terminal offers free transfers. Families planning to attend swimming lessons or register for upcoming winter recreation programs should check the current hours and drop-in schedules before heading out.
