Northgate Aquatic Centre opens for summer season with new features

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the seasonal opening of the Northgate Aquatic Centre for the 2026 summer season. Located at 910 Northgate Boulevard, the fully rebuilt facility reopens this weekend with expanded programming and upgraded amenities.

Following the complete rebuild completed in 2024, the centre now features a 50-metre competition pool, a dedicated dive tank with adjustable towers, a family leisure pool, and a double-lane waterslide. The facility also includes a modernized fitness area, accessible change rooms, and a newly renovated café space for light meals and refreshments.

"We are thrilled to welcome residents back to a facility designed for community wellness and lifelong learning," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "This rebuild ensures the Northgate Aquatic Centre remains a safe, accessible hub for swimmers, families, and fitness enthusiasts for decades to come."

You can now register for a full schedule of public swims, aquafitness classes, and all aquatic program levels, including Swim for Life and Swim abilities. Drop-in access is available during posted hours, and a resident verification card is required for teen open swim sessions. Early registration for summer day camps and extended aquatics programming opens in March.

The centre operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All lanes and waterslides are supervised by certified lifeguards, and the facility is fully compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

The city encourages visitors to explore related programming through the Arts & Heritage section, where you can find information on cultural events, park facilities, and community grants.
