On July 3, 2026, the City of Wrenford and our housing partners opened the doors to 84 new affordable rental homes at 1340 Ambrel Lake Road. The project sits right next to Ambrel Lake Park and adds much-needed housing for seniors, families, and working residents in the south-east part of the city.
The building was delivered through the City's housing incentive programs and supported by a federal housing grant, the Province of Ontario, and the City of Wrenford. Local contractors built the four-storey structure with accessible entrances, secure bike storage, and a shared community room for residents.
Thirty of the new homes are set at shelter rate, and forty are set at low-end market rate. The remaining units are priced at standard market rates, helping to keep the building financially stable. Tenant support services will be provided by Seniors Housing Wrenford and Wrenford Family Services to help residents stay connected to the neighbourhood.
"When we work with partners to build homes, we make Wrenford a city that works for everyone," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "These 84 units bring families and seniors closer to the services and trails they rely on every day. We are proud to see this project come to life."
The project is part of the City's push to grow the housing supply across all neighbourhoods. It aligns with the goals of the Wrenford Housing Strategy 2025–2030, which aims to add 1,200 new homes and protect existing affordable units over the next five years.
