Nominations for the awards closed on May 31, 2026, after which the Mayor's Recognition Awards Committee reviewed the submissions. The committee selected winners across six categories: the Community Builder Award, Distinguished Voluntary Service, Fine & Performing Arts, Environmental Stewardship, Youth Achievement, and the Mayor's Special Award. The committee reports its selections to Council each year.
"This year's nominations showed just how many people in Wrenford give their time and energy to make our neighbourhoods stronger," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "Whether it is a student organising a local clean-up, a volunteer running a food drive, or an artist bringing people together through performance, these recipients remind us of the care that builds our city."
The award ceremony will take place at a future date, with details shared on the News & Events page. Recipients will receive a certificate and a grant to support their ongoing community projects.
The Mayor's Special Award is selected directly by the Mayor rather than the committee. This year, it honours an individual whose humanitarian work or exceptional achievement has had a profound impact on Wrenford.
Residents who want to nominate a neighbour, friend, or local group for next year's awards can visit the Mayor's recognition awards page. The submission deadline for the 2028 cycle will be May 31, 2027. If you have questions about the categories or how to submit a nomination, you can email [email protected].
Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a deserving Wrenford resident. Your support helps us celebrate the people who make our city a great place to live, work, and play.
