Family Day holiday schedule announced for February 16, 2026

The City of Wrenford will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026, to mark Family Day. Residents should plan ahead for changes to municipal office hours, transit service, and waste collection on the holiday.

All City Hall locations, including the Service Wrenford counter at 100 Mercer Street, will be closed. If you need to make a payment or submit a request, you can use the drop box at City Hall or visit Check holiday service hours for a full list of affected offices.

Wrenford Transit will not operate fixed routes on Monday. The Downtown Transit Terminal will also be closed. Residents who rely on Wrenford Access specialized transit should contact the terminal at 519-555-0114 as soon as possible to check if your scheduled trip is running.

Garbage, Blue Box, and Green Bin collections will follow the regular schedule. If you need to drop off items, the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility and Northgate Drop-off Depot will be closed.

Most recreation facilities will remain open, but administrative offices for Parks & Culture will be closed. Public skating at the Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas will run as scheduled. The outdoor pool at Kingfisher Court is closed for the season. For the latest hours, visit Recreation & Culture.

With cold weather and ice still common across the city, the City encourages families to stay safe while enjoying the long weekend. Wear warm, layered clothing and sturdy winter boots. Helmets are strongly recommended for skating, sledding, and cycling. If you plan to walk on frozen waterways, check ice thickness first and avoid areas near moving water or cracks. Always carry a phone or a way to call 911 in an emergency.

"Family Day is a great time to get outside and enjoy what Wrenford has to offer," says Robert Eng, City Manager. "We just ask that you bundle up, check the weather, and let someone know where you are heading so everyone has a safe and happy long weekend. "
