Council approves 2027 operating budget with 3.9 per cent tax increase

City Council approved the 2027 operating budget on Monday, July 20, 2026. The approved budget includes a 3.9 per cent municipal property tax increase for residential properties. This level of funding allows the City to maintain current service levels across roads, water, waste management, and public safety.

The 2027 operating plan balances revenue and spending for the coming year. Council reviewed several spending options before setting the final tax rate. The approved budget allocates funds to ongoing capital projects, including the Corvid Creek Ravine Pathway Extension and the Wildrye Connector Pathway, which are both scheduled to open in 2027. It also covers the cost of operating the City's parks, recreation facilities, and emergency services.

"We have kept a close eye on the numbers to make sure we deliver essential services without pushing taxes too high," said Leah Thibodeau, GM Corporate Services and City Treasurer. "This budget keeps Wrenford moving forward while keeping property taxes affordable for residents."

Property tax bills will be sent out in two installments. The interim bill is due the last business day of February, and the final bill is due the last business day of June. Residents who prefer to pay monthly can sign up for a pre-authorized payment plan at any time. The tax rate will be confirmed through the upcoming Tax Levy By-law 2027-045.
