Council approves 2027 budget with 2.5 percent property tax increase

Wrenford, ON — City Council has approved the 2027 budget, setting a 2.5 percent property tax increase to support essential services and keep the city’s infrastructure in good repair. The budget was adopted at the regular meeting on January 22, 2026, following a review of the city’s financial plans and a public consultation period earlier this month.

The approved budget balances everyday services with long-term investments. Operating costs will be covered through a mix of property taxes, user fees, and provincial transfers. The city will also draw on reserve funds to complete several priority projects, including upgrades to the water system, road repairs across the neighbourhoods, and safety improvements at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre.

“Council’s approval of this budget gives administration clear direction to move forward,” said Robert Eng, City Manager. “This plan focuses on keeping our roads safe, our water clean, and our community programs affordable for everyone.”

Property owners will see the new tax rate on their 2027 interim property tax bill, which is due in February. If you would like to set up pre-authorized monthly payments or change your payment plan, you can visit the Property Tax page or call 519-555-0100.

The budget also includes funding for the 2027–2030 Capital Plan, which outlines major infrastructure projects over the next four years. Residents can view the full budget documents, see how their feedback shaped the plan, and access past budget reports through the Budget engagement portal.
