As of today, August 6, 2026, the City of Wrenford is offering a new property tax payment deferral option to help seniors manage their costs. Starting immediately, eligible residents can delay their interim and final tax bill payments without incurring interest until they sell the property, move into a care facility, or pass away.
The program is designed for homeowners aged 55 and older who meet the income and property value thresholds set out in the deferral policy. Instead of paying the full amount by the standard deadlines in February, April, June, and September, seniors can choose to defer their balance. The city will cover the interest costs, meaning the debt will not grow while you live in your home.
“Helping our seniors stay in the homes they have worked hard to maintain is a top priority for Council,” says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “This program takes the pressure off fixed incomes and ensures that property taxes never force a retirement out of a familiar neighbourhood.”
To apply, seniors need to complete a simple form and provide proof of age and income. You can pick up an application at the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall, or download it from the property tax webpage. If you have questions about eligibility or how the deferral works, call the Revenue Services team at 519-555-0100 or email [email protected].
The City is also encouraging seniors to explore the financial assistance page for additional support with utilities and home maintenance. For more information on how property taxes fund local services, visit the budget section of our website.
