The City of Wrenford is launching the Free Child and Youth Recreation Pass for summer 2026, making drop-in activities and transit access completely free for residents aged 18 and under. Starting June 1, 2026, eligible youth can visit any city recreation facility and ride Wrenford Transit without paying a fee.
The new pass builds on previous youth programs by removing the cost barrier entirely. It covers all Parks, Recreation & Culture facilities, including the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, Northgate Aquatic Centre, Westbrook Community Arena, Eastfield Twin Arenas, Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre, Kingfisher Outdoor Pool, Benchlands Curling Club, Wildrye Splash Pad, and Larch Heights Golf Course. Along with facility access, the pass includes unlimited rides on fixed-route Wrenford Transit, so youth can travel safely to their favourite destinations.
“We are excited to ensure every young person in Wrenford has the chance to enjoy active, healthy summers without worrying about the cost,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “This pass removes financial barriers and encourages youth to get outside, stay active, and connect with their neighbourhoods.”
Eligible youth must be Wrenford residents and under the age of 19. To get the pass, youth or their parents can visit any recreation facility or the Downtown Transit Terminal with a valid photo identification and proof of address. You can also register online through the Wrenford Recreation Portal. The pass is valid from June 1 to September 7, 2026, covering the full summer break.
Families looking for additional ways to stay active this season can also check out the Seniors section of our website for community wellness resources, or explore the full list of recreation programs on the Access community recreation programs page. We look forward to seeing you at the pool, on the trails, and at the arenas this summer.
