The City of Wrenford is accepting applications for neighbourhood groups to host Canada Day celebrations in local parks this July. If your group wants to bring the community together for music, food, and festivities at Centennial Gardens or any other park, the Neighbourhoods team is here to help you apply for a special event permit.
To host an event, you will need to submit an application through the Request a community event permit page. You will need to provide a basic site plan, outline your planned activities, and confirm that you have arranged for waste management and public safety. Because Canada Day falls on a Wednesday this year, the City encourages groups to keep noise levels reasonable after 9:00 p.m. to respect nearby residents.
Please note that any event involving amplified sound, temporary structures, or the sale of food or alcohol requires additional approvals. You must also comply with municipal By-laws to ensure all gathering areas meet fire and accessibility standards. A permit application must be submitted at least four weeks before your event date.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for local groups to bring their neighbours together," said Rosa Castellano, Events Coordinator. "Just remember that all parks are shared public spaces, so we ask that you leave them clean and safe for everyone."
Residents can also apply for a block party permit if you are looking to close a residential street instead. Applications for both event types are reviewed on a rolling basis, and the City provides standard liability coverage for approved groups.
