On the second weekend of August, the City of Wrenford will host the Benchlands Folk Festival at Benchlands Lookout Park. To keep visitors and residents safe during the event, Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will implement temporary parking restrictions and access changes along Benchlands Drive and the surrounding streets.
You will not be able to park on Benchlands Drive between Corvid Way and the park entrance from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9. Under the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075, the City can enforce these restrictions to keep traffic flowing and emergency vehicles moving. If you live in the affected area, you will receive a courtesy notice card in the mail with alternative parking options for your block.
We recommend that you use the park-and-ride shuttle. Free buses will run every fifteen minutes from the Downtown Transit Terminal to Benchlands Lookout Park. The shuttles will start running at 4:00 p.m. both days and continue until one hour after the last act finishes. This reduces traffic in the area and makes it easier for everyone to reach their seats.
"We want everyone to enjoy the music and the outdoors safely," says Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. "Our crews have been working with the festival organizers for months to map out these routes, and we appreciate residents and visitors who follow the posted signs."
Keep an eye on our Roads & Winter Maintenance page for live updates on road conditions and shuttle schedules. If you notice a missing sign or a pothole near the festival grounds before the event, please use our Report a pothole tool so we can fix it in time.
