The City of Wrenford has finished repairing the walking and cycling trails at Ambrel Lake Park. Crews wrapped up the resurfacing and drainage work earlier this week, just in time for the spring thaw. Residents can now enjoy the full loop around the lake without worrying about mud or uneven ground.
The project was funded through the Park Renewal Reserve, part of the City’s 2026 Capital Budget. By using these dedicated reserve funds, the City can upgrade park infrastructure without raising property taxes or utility rates. The repairs included smoothing the gravel path, clearing fallen branches from the winter storms, and fixing drainage ditches that were causing puddles. This work is part of the larger Parks and Recreation Capital Works Program, which keeps our green spaces safe and accessible for everyone.
"We want to make sure our trails are safe and accessible for everyone as the weather warms up," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Investing in these repairs now means fewer emergency fixes later and a better experience for families, dog walkers, and cyclists all season long."
When you visit the trail, please stay on the marked path to protect the surrounding vegetation and boardwalk. If you notice any new potholes, blocked drains, or damaged signs, report them through Service Wrenford or the mobile app. Keeping the trail clear helps crews maintain it faster and keeps it safe for your neighbours.
